KOBALT BOOKS Presents – The Last Shall Be First… Maybe, by Patricia
Shipman
Bala Cynwyd, PA - After being thrown out the window at the age of 9
months old by a family member, who will teach Betsy about self esteem when
she has been rejected by the closest people to her? Based on a true story,
Patricia Shipman and Kobalt Books, pen a very compelling story called “The
Last Shall Be First… Maybe”. Who will preserve and nurture the lives of the
young children, when constant murders and crime resemble locusts, overcoming
the urban community? Children represent tomorrow and are the voice of today;
therefore we should focus on the locust, before all is lost.
Patricia Shipman’s debut novel, “The Last Shall Be First… Maybe”, originated
from a police officer who was killed in Newark, NJ. After this tragic
incident, the murder rate relentlessly increased.
Individuals that identify with the street-life respect the approach used
because Shipman has over 31 years of teaching and community work. She has
played an important role in the development and raising of some of the
children of Newark, NJ. “They shared a lot with me, and I KNOW that we can
resolve this gang problem/ high murder rate situation. A lot of gangs fight
over drug territory. However, some homicides are happening just because
people need money, and they are willing to even KILL to pay bills and eat a
decent meal”, says Shipman.
